I have an ASM G3 on a 150 Oceanic with dual overflow. I was thinking of adding the recirc mod to it for more efficiency. Since I have dual overflow, can I plumb one side into the skimmer with no "Tee" since the other overflow would pick up the slack if there was backpressure? Or is the flow simply too much for the skimmer to efficiently handle? Thanks for the input.

Regards,
Joe

I would use a T so you can change the flow going to the skimmer. Plus a T might allow you to eliminate bubbles from the overflow box

i think it depends on your return rate, but i would have it teed off, if for no other reason so that you can keep your pump running while you service the skimmer.

Suggest you T off as well as put a ball valve after the T. This gives you complete control of how fast the waterflow rate is going to the skimmer. Too fast will cause too much turbulance inside the skimmer and breakup the foaming. Here's a sketch that my aquarium technician did and I don't take any credit for it, but it works great! No surging or gurgling. If you don't T off and control the input by ball valve, you are at the mercy of what the overflow does. If it is uneven waterflow, the waterlevel in the skimmer will go up and down inconsistently or if it surges, the surge will break apart the foaming production. HTH
