cool post some pics when you got it all stocked. I like angels too. if I had a tank that large I would have a lorge angel or two in it. and maybe a red fin bat fish those fish are cool. then of coarse I would have plenty medium and small fishes like tangs, wrasses and some small angels too. maybe even a school of small fish too. man I need to go buy me a lottery ticket. he he.

I am still missing some important parts and decorations for this tank.
If everything will go well I should have tap water test done next weekend.

I like to hear from you all any comments positive or negative on this tank and as well some serious fish list to.
I like personally small fish not aggressive!!!!!!!!!!!

I like it. I always thought that fake corals looked cool, but that thought of them getting covered in algae and having to scrub them all the time. I always wanted a large FOWLR tank and yours looks alot like how i would want my tank. Keep us updated :D Here are some fish i would do in a "peaceful" FO tank (if i had a tank as big as yours).

Blue throat or pink tail trigger
blue striped Tamarin wrasse
pinkface wrasse
atlantic blue tang
shoal tang
powder blue tang
pair royal grammas
pair of maroon clowns
blue girled angel (majestic) angel
flame angel
lemon peel angel
coral beauty angel
group of lyretail anthias
a couple more species of anthias
copperband butterfly
yellow longnose butterfly
some firefish, puple too
a lawnmower blenny to help keep thoes corals clean
oh and a snowflake eel :D

Here are some pics :D

I like all the fish cutie mentioned. I think I would also add a scott's fairy wrasse or a exquisite fairy wrass. and of course you will need one heck of a cleanup crew too keep it clean. especially those fake corals.

Jim_S
04/16/2006, 11:34 AM
Wow, that is a sick skimmer! You spent a pretty penny on that badboy. Are you using a sump? How are you feeding the skimmer? With the drain, or do you have a devoted pump? Great looking tank! You'll be able to keep some great fish int here. As for the fake corals, I have never been a big fan, but its your tank so happy reefing!

Jim

tsadik
04/16/2006, 05:43 PM
Yes I do have a sump it's located under the tank sump = 60x24x24
Skimmer it's feed by T off from main pump

Regarding the fish list IMO as "Cutiewitbooty" mention above there are too many Angel fish
I like wrasses ,Anthias ,some large Angels,Tangs
As of now I am not so sure with the fish list

I have just finished the lighting on the tank it's on Heavy duty rail with some serious wheel carts -:)))))

I have 4 PCs Aqua Medic 48" T5 with 4 10K and 4 True Actinic bulbs
I was wondering to do Faux sand bed but after small chat with friend of mine who has done it long time ago now I am little bit confuse what to do.
If any of you have some experience with faux sand bed Epoxy+sand in acrylic tanks please let me know how is doing this sand bed after while in salt water tanks with UV lighting.

yeah large angels are pretty, those are just my favorite ones 3 small ones and 1 large :D

What kind of rock is that in there, is it the fake rock stuff?

tsadik
04/16/2006, 06:02 PM
Yes that's fake rock I like it so far

jasonkola
04/16/2006, 09:33 PM
fake rock? don't make much sence to me. the real stuff is so much more benificial for your system. I guess if you like it that is what really matters. that list is not really too many angels for that large a tank especially sence 3 of them are small. I look foreword to seeing what you choose to put in there. keep us posted.

delv
04/17/2006, 07:55 PM
It looks pretty good. Is this your actual tank or a customers? Looks like Living Color rocks....if you wanted off the shelf "custom" why did you choose them?
As far as fake vs. live rock...try to build a decent looking 25,000 gallon tank with live rock. Think about composition.

d.

tsadik
04/18/2006, 08:22 AM
First of all dear "delv" the tank belongs to my dogs
Second- living colors have noting to do with this tank
I have desing this tank in appr. 30 min

delv
04/18/2006, 09:02 AM
Sorry, I wasn't insulting your use of composition, I was trying to shed some light as to why someone might use synthetic rock vs. live rock.
Maybe I wasn't clear, didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. Looks Good.

I just wish more people would do these large FO tanks... LOVE IT!!!!!

My suggestions for a trigger is a hawian or black durgeon trigger. Usually in the stores they look kinda crappy due to them being in a small tank but once they get use to the tank their colors are as good as any trigger (well almost) but the best thing is, is that they are as whimpy as a blue throaght they just get a LOT bigger :)

Can't wait to see pics with fish in it :)

IMO if all goes well in 2-3 weeks I'll fly to LA to get some fish
Every fish has a tendency to hide in begginning.Everithing is base on the place and a lot's of other very important thinks which combine together. For example fish you all ready have or don't have in the tank.
There is no proven study for this particular family of Anthias they are shy or are hiding

I like to show you some of the corals I have been waiting for .

Just a suggestion, the formalin will not kill all the ich. With that many Tangs you will most likley have major problems. I would hate to see a tank that heavily stocked have an ich outbreak. It could wind up costing you big $$$. Just a suggestion though.

I understand that you are looking for alot of smaller flashy fish, have you considered any smaller species of lionfish and possibly forgo the very small fish? I personally dont consider lions aggressive considering they only eat larger fish due to mouth size, like a FW Oscar. Fuzzy Dwarfs for instance now are coming in about 3 color variants and usually stay in that 4-7in range.

If your making a trip to Cali, what about stoping by MarineDepots building for any peaceful triggers? Last time I checked, they keep stock of male and female Blue Throats.

I also second batfin if your interested, I think they would be fine since your tank is tall enough for them.

Glad to see that someone else will be working with the Fiji Rabbitfish, I seem to be one of the few in my area to have heard of them.

I see a Coral Beauty on your list, have you considered Potters aswell? Speaking of angels, what about the Genicathus'? I like Lamark's(try for a pair) and Blackspots.

As I said the fish list is not final.
All my fish will come from only one wholesaler which I know and have done business for long time the only one "SEA DWELLING CREATURES" .

Every fish has ick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ick is hidden disease which will occur under bad circumstances mostly stress and very bad water parameters.
I do have 160W UV and commercial ozone on my system with extreme turn over and very good skimmer which should help as well.

If somebody you have fish only it's very ease to fix ick problem. You just have to start dose cooper.
If you have corals which sensitivity to water quality is much higher than I would think of quarantine tank.
I used to have 240G SPS tank - you can see some pix on my website and in gallery here on reef central.
To tell the thru if you feed the fish high end food mixed with garlic and vitamins you have less chance you fish will become sick.Even when one new or two are the disease will not spread because your other fish has good immune system.

The tank won't be BB.I have decide to put some sand only for the look.
Or I'll mix sand with epoxy and crate faux sand bed
