I am new to RC and this is my first post! The info i have gotten from this forum is the best! It finaly convinced me to get an RO filter. What a difference! My phoshates are now low to 0, and my nitrates are approcing 0. Thank you everyone for the great threads!

Cool, good to hear it! There is hardly anything more satisfying than watching a piece of equipment do an excellent job. And welcome to the boards!

should I consider a DI add on or do you think its a waste of money?

What is the TDS of the water coming out of the RO? If it is zero, you are set. If it's creeping up toward 8-10 ppm, then I think you definately want to add a DI stage.

Thanks for the info I don't have a TDS yet. Maybe I'll wait till I do before wasting the money

Don't have a TDS meter yet? They are a must for RO/DI units to tell you when to replace filters/membrane/etc. Though prefilters should be replaced every 6 months. You will need one to tell you when to replace the membrane though; but most of all you need it to tell you if your unit is working properly. They're only ~$15-$20.
Oh, nice to have you on board.

Welcome to the hobby!
You will have endless hours of fun reading the posts here at RC.
Come up with a plan and adapt. The more you read the more you will wonder. I have been to busy over the past few years to post here, but I am about to start over. I try to get as much input as possible and after a few weeks can feel confident enough to invest in my plan.
I'm sure this will happen with you.
