moving rics?

I need to move rics because they're being shaded by coral,if I slice them close to the rock will that be ok?

suppose it depends upon the type of ric but I have fragged rics many times using that method and they have always been fine. The trick is not to loose them after you cut them. Try to figure out some way to keep them in one place till they heal.
