can we keep clam and sps under compact flurocent light? i have 5.5 watt per gallon on the lighting.

depends on the type of clam. but you can't do sps, you need T5's or MH at least!

I kept a crocea under PCs for 6 months under around 5 watts per gallon. he did fine. kept him half way up the tank around 10 inches from the lights. You can do it with PC lighting but Halides are probably the best long term.

What is the size of the tank? Using watts/gal really isn't a good measuring stick. Very unrealistic example, but it will get my point across. Say you have two 10 gal tanks. One is 20" deep, and the other is 10" deep. But since both are 10gallons, you would have the same watts/gallon. But the water depth would be a huge factor in placement of corals and which ones you could keep.
