The tank is about 2 months old, in the last week the white rock has started turning bronze. However there is also some neon green, red and purple colors starting to come up. Is this normal?

do u know wut a cycle is? might wanna do some research before getting into the hobby any further. Its normal, should subside over a couple of weeks, get a clean up crew. Be concerned if it its a red gel like algae and it starts to spread

its completely normal. Called diatoms. Keep up with water changes and over the next month it should be gone. Be sure to use ro water at least or distilled. Tap water can cause these to come on fast also.

Drunk....Yes I know what a cycle is... levels all went sky high then came back down, they have been normal for 3 weeks. I used tap water to fill tank, but have done 3-10 gallon water changes with RO and have been using RO to top off. I have 7 hermits, 1 snail, and 1 serpent star as cleaning crew. Any others I might need?

you might want to get rid of your seaclone protein skimmer, word of advice they are not good and effecient you might want to get some thing better

I have to clean the cup on the seaclone about every 3 days.....it's always a nasty brown/green color

id suggest alot more snails and possibly some shrimp if there compatible with the hermits

Your skimer is fine as long as it works... Anyways, more snails first, just dont go overboard. Some astreas, ceriths, nassarius. Keep up with the ro water and in time it will naturally go away.

geneo- I have a few small patches of bronze on my rock. There is a type of maroon coralline that is that color when it starts off. From what I read, it tendsto like high light and eventually turns to a cyano-like color as it ages.

Thanks for the input. My snail is doing a good job on the flat ledges but not so well on the rugged rocks. Also starting to come up on the back of the tank where I can't get the magfloats.
