Hey gang, waiting on my hamilton 4 bulb VHO hood to come in anyday. I bought a used 5' 4-bulb unit for my 6' tank. This should be leaps and bounds better than my 48" PC's on the 6'er. My question is this....will I be able to sit this unit directly on top of my tank, with glass tops of course. I don't want it to melt my cross braces. Everyone says these run moderately cool compared to Halides and PC's. Here is a link to the actual unit model http://www.customaquatic.com/images.../LT-HMA5AVV.jpg
Has anyone had any experiences with these?

Just in case the link doesn't work, the 60" unit.

I can't get the links to work. PM me about your 75g please.

Compared to MHs they run very cool. The majority of the heat will also be on the ends not near the center brace although I am not certain about your melting question. I would think no issue.

I can hold mine with bare hands after they have been on all day.

Great. I think that answers my question.
Essop, do you have the 5' or 6' lights on your 125g? I figured a 5' light would provide enough light, I only have the 4' retro right now which does okay, but still need more coverage area.
