My Mandarin Just Excepted Food!!!!!!!

I have had my mandarin for almost a week now! today i fed a mixture of the fenner/bonerman marine mash with shrimp,oysters,squid,cyclopeeze,and nori! I noticed a piece drift in front of his head, he investigated it, took a bite(didnt spit it out, i watched carefully) and then follwed the rest of the piece of food to the front of the tank and finished it! Then it was right back to his ceaseless hunting! I know that this is a long way from him waiting at the top of the water with the rest of the fish, but its a start!:strooper:

Very good, although he is never likely to wait at the top of the tank. He will always wait for it to fall, but at least he is eating.

good morning gibbswagon, your on a roll buddy, they occasionally eat food right out of the water column when you feed they will investigate, just keep feeding and he will naturally get food from the live rock, copepods,amphipods,etc...hope this helps...

he is a spotted purchased from salty critter in vermillion ohio. he is portly( i feel bad calling him fat) and very active! i will be getting a fuge soon, but i waited till my tank was a yr old so there would be some population of amphipods and copepods built up! ( the original plan was to wait till i got a fuge but he was so much more colorful then any other ones i saw)

Can you tell of the mix you mentioned what he's most interested in?
Mine eats mysis, but I want to try other stuff.

its blended all together in a mash and he just ate a chunk of it
