I built a 10 gal sump for my hex. The question that I have is:Does everyone have a pump on the inlet side? If not how do they get it primed so that plenty of water flows through it? I have a mag7 on the other side for the return. I really don't want to drill it due to the fact that it is already up and running. Any suggestions will help.

on another note, ... a mag 7 ( 700 gph) into a 10 gal sump ... to much flow i should think

it does have a ball valve so slow it down if needed

trouble is that when you slow it down it does make quite a bit of noise. Is there anyway to change the impellor size so that less water is moved?

Yes. You could swap the impeller and the pump cover

Mag3 = 12575 impeller + 12535 pump cover
Mag5 = 12575 impeller + 12545 pump cover
Mag7 = 12585 impeller + 12545 pump cover

Ok Now that I have that finished and everything is working well, there is a new dilema on the horizon......

The inlet side needs to have some kind of backflow prevention so that when the power goes out it will not flood the living room.

The summer months are coming and lighting storms happen everyday here in fla. With this being said I'd llike not to have a real disaster on my hands.....
