View Full Version : Tiny Bubbles...maybe a minor fix.

I've been plagued by microbubbles. Since the skimmer is alleged to be the bubble-factory, thought I'd try some sort of baffle to break up the microbubbles before they get pushed up to the display tank. Just happened to have some plastic canvas in house---it has square holes about 1/8th inch wide, is chemically inert: craft stores sell it as embroidery craft stuff, and it's useful because it can be cut with scissors and stitched with fishing line. In this case I just jammed an uncut sheet of it between the return pump and the skimmer, and the bubbles seem significantly diminished since: fish that have been hiding in the rocks came out to the front glass for the first time. The next question is whether I get any crud or nitrate-ish stuff accumulating on so wide a screen. It's certainly as easy to clean as it is to install.

Note: after 12 hours, the bubble level in the tank is enormously reduced.
