hello, i'm new to reefs and looking for lighting for a 92g corner tank. i've been researching a lot and think i want to go with T5's. i would like to keep mainly soft and LPS corals at first, but might want to try some SPS later on. i've been having a tough time finding a 36" fixture that will fit over the tank because of the shape. i think your 5 bulb fixture would fit nicely because of the small width. but i'm wondering if this would be enough light for this tank? thanks if you have any input or some other ideas for lighting this shape tank.

bdock26,
Thank you for your interest in Aquactinics. I don't see any problems using one of our 36" T5 fixtures over your tank. It should be plenty of light for a 92g corner. The best solution would be if you have a canopy then you could mount the fixture ( by the two thread holes on top ) to the canopy so to have the fixture centered as much as possible.
Thank you,
Tom

Seeing as how the 36" T5 would be enough for a 92g corner tank, would it be too much for my 30g tank? The aquarium is only 16" tall, would I be killing its inhabitants with kindness? :eek1:

Darius,
It would be tough to say without knowing what inhabitants you have in your tank. That being said, you do have the option of just running two of the lamps or three of the lamps and then building up to all 5 lamps if needed. This way you have better lighting control over your tank.
Thank you,
Tom

thanks for your reply. i'm definitely considering the 36" fixture i just had a few other questions. i don't have a canopy so i think i'll be hanging the fixture, do you have any info on your hanging system? would it allow me to quickly raise the fixture for maintenance, etc.? also, is the icecap fan upgrade available and do you think it would even be necessary? and is there any room to mount moonlights on the fixture? from the photos it doesn't look like it but i wanted to get your opinion. thanks for all your help.

bdock,
Yes, we will be offering hanging kits that can raise and lower the fixture. More info on those kits should be available later next week.
With out T5 fixtures, the standard fans are more then enough to keep the whole system cool. As for the moonlight, currently there is no room to install one, but some have purchased the IceCap MINI LED moonlight kits and just placed them inside the fixture. We can get them for you at the same price as the current moonlight kits we sell.
Thank you,
Tom
