I got these today labeled as allardi. They are small juvies. Less than 1" and they cam in as WC allardi. I don't know enough about them to be sure. They certainly could be but then they might be chrysopterus or bicinctus. Here they are in the tank, in a double bag. They're terrible pics but I'll post more in an hour or so when they are out.

They had 2 dark and 2 lighter fish, the darker were moer aggressive and, according to the lfs guy were eating better. I took the darker ones. These were at Aquarium Concepts in the SF Bay area for $18 each, the light ones are probably still there.

Also, I don't have a place for them to have their own tank. Will my clarkii allow them to move into an extra anemone since they are so small or will they kill them straight away?

Here is number 1.

Here is number 2. You can see a little residual white on the base of the tail and along the top, very slight.

Allardi for $18?? No way. I like Ken but these are not allardi. Maybe sebae

Awful cheap but they assured me that is how they were labeled from the distributor. I'm pretty sure that whatever they are they are clarkii complex and not saddleback complex, I think sebae is out.

BTW: picked up a 'nem at your shop today, looks great so far. What clowns do you have in the 46 bow front reef?

pretty sure theyre clarkii. collection location would help you, as allardi are only collected from african coasts.

I hope they're not clarkii, that's a bit expensive for w/c clarkii around here. The store didn't know anything about the specific collectin location. I'm assuming that the distributor knows where it came from and that it is an appropriate place for allardi but it is sure no guarantee.

They're in a tank now. Here are a couple better pics:

I'd guess clarkii but the all yellow dorsals are a little suspicious.

edit: which looks like a sabae, the brown one?

I thought they might be when they were in the bag and now I am pretty positive that those are Vanuatu Clarki. $18 each is about right for the price also.

Ok mine pictured is a clarki, but if you look long enough you could think its a chrys, or something else.

so.... Return them or put them in with my adults hoping they'll find safe haven? There is an anemone in there for when they go in and since they are so small they won't look like any kind of competition. But being so small they also won't be able to protect themselves either and I doubt I can get them out in time if she does decide to take them out.

me too!! I figured that they are old enough now. Been in that tank for 1.5 years, captive raised and in great shape. Time will tell I guess.

Sorry RK, I hijacked my own thread. Tyler runs the fish department at one of the LFS. I was refering to the fish in HIS 46 Display at the shop not the fish I was looking to ID here.
