hello,
i want to upgrade my skimmer sometime soon and was looking for some options. im using a remora HOB right now, and it works well, but i need to bullet proof my tank because i'll be leaving for school in the fall and fish-tards will be watching it. so i want to beef up the skimmage, anything good for under $200?? i know the skimmer is the one thing you dont want to go skimpy on, but i've got budget as well as other equipment to buy to ensure the survival of my reef. any recommendations would be great, thanks!
anyone using the new coralife super skimmers?

thanks for the tip. forgot to mention that i have no sump, a major drawback for skimmer choices. i dont know if i can set one up, there is a serious lack of space...i'll have to think it out though, maybe i can do a small rubbermaid sump just for the skimmer.

This one:

A guy uses this one on a 75, so it should work well on a 60.

The remora you have is going to be the best on that size tank
with your budget.
Deltec is suposed to be the best HOB, but pricey.
I love my coralife 220, but I heard smaller ones come with a rio pump.

my lfs has an awesome 2o gallon sump and euroreef skimmer for 199.00, thinking about getting it for my new tank!

how hard is it to set up a skmmer in a sump?

Super easy. Most are plug and play, maybe a little adjustment, and you're good to go. If the tank isn't reef ready, you'll need an overflow box and a return pump.

That would work fine. You might check the BST forums here to see if you can find an overflow box (most single U tube ones run about 700 gph), and a return pump (~700gph). Then you have more options for a skimmer. You can find some really great skimmers used on here for less than $200. I bought an AquaMedic Turboflotor 1000 in sump skimmer from another reefer on here, and it's been the best investment I have made.
