I was just wondering what people's opinions were on salt mixes. What are your favorites, least favorites, any superior products? I am currently using Reef Crystals, while I do like the product, it just leads to a much elevated level of salt creep, when compared to other mixes that I have used. I am thinking of switching products but am undecided on where to look.

Lots of people use Instant Ocean quite successfully. I use Crystal Seas, but apparently it can cause some bleaching. If you want to switch, IO is a fine choice, IMO. I'd stay away from Oceanic because the calcium level is far too high.

Thanks for your reply, do you have a web address for Crystal seas? I will look into it, also does Instant Ocean provide all that my corals need? Or have I just fallen victim to advertising?

I think PremiumAquatics.com sells the Crystal Seas salt.

Instant Ocean is a bit low in calcium and magnesium, but there are cheap supplements available to address that problem.

I've been using Seachem's Reef Salt with excellent results! Extremely low in inorganic matter.

I have used IO, crystal seas, tropic marin, and currently tropic marin pro. I have never had such amazing coraline growth than I'm getting with the TM pro.

thanks for everyone's replies, I have been looking closely at Tropic Marin and I'm thinking I give it a try. Any other input will be appreciated. Thanks

mg426-- have you had any problems with excessive salt creep, and residue? I am currently using Reef Crystals, and while I like it, the residue is a constant battle. Are you experiencing the same results?

I used to use Kent, but now I think I am going to switch to Tropic Marin Pro because I have herad many good things about it.

My first bucket of TM Pro was alittle low in Alk and Mg, but Ca was high over 500, I just bought my second bucket and will have some mixed by the end of the week, curious what other people have for #'s.
