I am setting up two tanks that will both be using the same water. water drains from one tank down to the other, then pumped back up. the bottom tank will be medium to low flow. the top tank will be high flow with a closed loop using a sequence dart pump. both tanks are 65 gallons. I am going with a deep sand bed in both tanks. What type of substrate (brand, size, etc...) would you recomend and why?
thanks

Look for (Oolitic) sugar sized aragonite.

There isn't really a good aquarium product that I'd recommend. You can get some silica sand from various sources that'll be a good mix, but it's more work. There's a sticky thread on substrate choices at the top of the forum.

I'm not sure how much the DSB in the second tank will help. Typically, not much food makes it through the overflow for most people.
