i reached into my sump to pull out a rock,
touched somthing on the back of it that vibrated rather rapidly
droped the rock and waited for the pain from a sting, no pain no sting
fliped the rock over after a few min of waiting for some sorta pain and there is a brownish jelly like 'coral ? ' its about 1/2 across by 2 inch long
any clues, will get a pic shortly

I would guess it was some invertebrate rather than a vibrating coral... perhaps a hitchiker crab or shrimp, that just happened to be near that brownish coral you felt.

I moved a rock once and an amphipod was under one of my fingers. It struggled and scared the poop out of me.
Hmmmm, maybe I really should invest in some gloves. lol

there was nothing else on tha trock besides that, and it was not a slow vibration it was rather fast
since then i do ware my gloves when playing with rocks

Since this was in your sump, could the vibration be from your return pump or a skimmer?

no it did not start until i had the rock free of the water, and it was just the one finger that was touching the 'soft' spot
also it seems to have grow some under the mh lights in my tank, will post another pic tonight after work
