Wore out my last drill bit. Just got the new one.

I have a new tank that I'm drilling. I am considering drilling the back of the tank for the overflow instead of the bottom to avoid the standpipe. I want to go with a smaller overflow box because the tank is so deep.

Is there any advantage, beside direct access to the stand, to drilling in the bottom. Is drilling the back with an external durso just as good?

The tank: ~225 gallons salvaged free from hospital lobby.

There will be 4 holes drilled in the bottom for the closed loop. Two in front, jets pointing up and back and two in the back pointing forward. The return from the sump will go down the back. This should creat a circular flow taking advantage of dynamic flow.
