I would like to have an eel but i dont have the space for a 55gal or bigger.

Are there any eels that might fit in a 38 gallon?

Bye the way, it would have a 20gal sump.

I have heard ribbon eels but after doing research, i found that they are harder to care for and not very hardy(at all).

A small snoflake would be fine for awhile. They stay relatively small!

I will vouch for the dwarf golden moray. I had one for years and now tha I want another...I can't seem to find anywhere to get them. So if anyone has any ideas let me know.

thank you,

i was looking at the snowflake because they are generally easy to find but i think i will need a larger tank eventually and i would like to find one that could stay in a tank this small

(that doesn't mean i won't be upgrading eventually ;) )

i will look into the dwarf goldens

I have a ghost eel and as long as you have lots of rock it should be fine. Ive had mine for just a year now and its doing great. its just 2' and about ras thick as a marker. mine always has atleast its head out looking around. Doesnt bother any of the fish although I have never been able to keep Firefish with it. It is the best alternative to a ribbon eel I could find and only around 30-40$...as compaired to the 200-400$ golden dwarf!

They might turn over some rockwork and corals, but they don't eat coral.
