My tank has been up about a month. I just did my first water change and I have had a green alge bloom mostly on the sand and live rock. I have scaled back the time I am running my light. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the alge.

Thanks
Chris J

Keep up at least weekly 10-15% water changes. Also, do you have any snails and/or crabs. The turbo and astria snails really help eat the stuff up. The hermit crabs will usually graze on the substrate - IME. On my 90g with a sump I added an AquaClear 50 powerhead with pre-filter and that helped tremendously as well. Sometimes the mechanical filtration gives an added boost to the sump on a new system.

Its a 37 Gal Oceanic cube with 29lbs of live rock, 40lbs of live sand. I have 22 snails not sure of the type, 1 Fire Shrimp, and 1 sand sifting star. and about 10 crabs. How long should I be running my light? The only coral I have is a ricordia.

Thanks,
