Hi,

I'm putting together a 55 gallon reef tank. I've been reading books and articles (really enjoy WaterKeeper's) and forums for some time now. I've had FO tanks in the past.

I'm slowly but surely getting the items I need - taking things slow, want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet of items I'm going to buy with approximate prices...sure wasn't that much in my head.

ANYWAY, I'm ready to add live rock TO MY SPREADSHEET...but I'm unsure about how much I am going to buy. I know what is recommended, but I don't know what a certain number of pounds will LOOK like in my tank.

My question is, does anyone have a picture, preferably of a 4 foot 55 gal, that you could send me or give me a link to, and tell me how many lbs of what type of rock you have?

Thanks,
Mike

Here is a pic of my new 56gal tank. This tank has outside dimensions of 30w x 18d x 24h.
The live rock is from reefscience.com (highly recommended).
This is a 50lb order. One large piece was dense and heavy. The rest of the pieces were very light (much lighter than fiji premium); meaning you will get larger pieces for the same weight.
Also, bear in mind that this is 50lb shipped. This means I got about 43 lbs of rock and a 7lb box.

.. hope this helps

Nice!

Maybe it's worth saving up a little longer than I'd already planned..

Thanks!

Yes, this is BY FAR the best rock we have ever been able to bring in... We've had very good success with this rock... Glad you liked your rock...

Thanks again,
