Very cool! What are the dimensions? Is it the same as the 240, only 6" higher?

fishaholic911

Yes it is 96-24-30

Gary, I did not realize this pump was for a return. That is a serious return pump, do you really need one that powerful? Usually a return pump only needs to be 3-4 times the tank volume. This pump would be great for a CLC if you coose to get a smaller pump for the return. Just an idea.

On another note, will you be home tomorrow? I can stop by and pick up the sand.

Satori

My 180 was built in 2 weeks. (It was cracked on delivery)
IF it's delivered next thursday as promised, It will have taken 4 weeks to repair, a month and a half total.

fishaholic911
04/29/2006, 09:12 PM
I ordered and received 4 250 watt hamilton se mh ballast and 14k bulbs with spider reflectors 4 160 watt uri vho actinic bulbs that will be powered by my 2 440 icecap ballast. 4-4 3/4 inch fans, all loc-line and moon lights, sand bed ( cruched coral ) I know kick me but I love the looks and euro reef skimmer ES6-1 that will run along side my asm g-2 this way I can have one run a wet foam and the other a dry I get to have my cake and eat it too.

My problem is, I've been getting all these shipments so I unpack them all but don't want to put anything away cause I know the tank will be here any day... It really clutters a small house!

When I did my tank the pile on my dining room table was about a foot high. It took almost 3 weeks after the tank was up and running to finally get it clear.

Satori
05/11/2006, 08:07 PM
That sux Gary. Is it LeeMar? Have they given any indication when it might be?

Phil - I don't think I have 3 weeks to get it cleaned up... I already had to "organize" some of it today... I thought she understood :)

phlipper84
05/11/2006, 08:23 PM
Hopefully when it is out-of-sight, it will be out-of-mind. My wife at least was not home when the packages came in. I just told her I had it for 6 months for the current tank and it would not fit! That or "I swear, it only cost like 5.00!"

Katherine forces me to tell her. I used to lye a bit about the prices. But after awhile I kinda liked her shrieks. It kinda looks like this :eek1: Now I tell her it costs more than it really does. Her eyes burgeon out of her skull.

It's rather delightful.

Mike, all is looking good. Glad the standpipe sucks so well...hehehe.

Oh hell I am delirious. . . sleep, must have sleep. 4 days and 11hrs sleep is killing me. I'm almost out of Altovis too. Need more sleep. Need more Altovis.

With the old tank gone I was able to remove the top of the stand. Now I can drop the 100 gallon sump into the stand from the top. This is good news because I thought is was going to have to use a 55 gallon or costom build something.

Oh, and the next time Gary needs the canopy lifted for some reason or other, My "too Short" butt is calling one of you people. That thing is rediculously HEAVY and my arms are too short to lift that darn thing up high enough to clear the 240 gallon, I can't imagine what it will be like when the 300 gets here.

What are you using for reflectors? Did they come flat like that? I'm using spider reflectors and they really limit my VHO mounting options.

fishaholic911
05/17/2006, 08:52 PM
They are suppost to be spider reflectors but not 100 percent sure because the where built by hamilton. I order them and they said they could make them that day. Boy these things were large and costly!I just mounted them in the center and then screwed the ends down flat so I would have room for the vho's

Satori
05/17/2006, 09:16 PM
I guess that's the difference. I didn't flatten mine out. I guess if I get a larger ballast that can fire 3 bulbs, I'll have to flatten them out to get the third one in there.

fishaholic911
05/17/2006, 09:20 PM
Just get another 430 and then you can run 4. I will be running 4 72 inch vho's powered by 2 icecap 430's

Satori
05/17/2006, 09:23 PM
That's not a bad idea either. Here I am thinking of running 3.

4 makes more sense. Thanks for my new plan!

fishaholic911
05/17/2006, 09:26 PM
You can find used Icecap ballest for sale all the time and they usually last a very long time. If you run 2 and 1 goes out you have time to send it out for repair ( Icecap can fix there ballest for around 40 bucks )

05/17/2006, 09:28 PM

They did brake it. I found out it was on the same truck for delivery as mike's but some how it got damaged so the took it back for repair. They said I will have it next thursday

Satori

Week 8 and no tank! Lee Mar sucks! The only thing that makes it a little easier is they are taking 200 bucks off.

Satori
05/24/2006, 07:18 PM
That's cool about the discount, but man, that still sucks. Does your truck come on Wednesdays? Both times I got my tank, the truck came on Thursday.

Wow I have never seen this with Lee Mar, I have received 3 large tanks over 180 gallons in the time this post has started. I am expecting a 220, and 5 of the 10 70-gallon tanks I ordered for the remodel today. I am not looking forward to writing that check though.

SWSaltwater
05/25/2006, 02:54 PM
Guess Lee Mar is slipping a bit, my 220 is delayed till next week and they drilled the return hole too small in the 5 store tanks. They should have those re-drilled by next week though.

fishaholic911
05/25/2006, 06:32 PM
I know if I did it again I would not go with lee Mar.They might have nice tanks for good prices but this is ridiculous.

I found Lee Mar web site and sent them a e-mail here it is

Hi my name is gary smith, I ordered a 300 gallon glass reef ready form my
lfs (Majestic) here in tucson az. I payed them on 4-1-06 they told me you
(Lee Mar) said it was 2-3 week dilivery. It has been 8 weeks and I am
without my tank. What is going on? This has been a very bad
experience.Everyone on reef central say you guys make good tanks but if this

is true is it worth the wait? I am not the only one that has had this
problem recently a guy I know in sierra vista bought a lee mar and had to
wait 7 weeks because it came in damaged. Other people on RC are starting to
say the same thing. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Here is there reply

Hello,

I do have your order in my system it will be del Next Thurs to Majestic
Sealife. We are running two to three weeks in are turn around times, even if
they come back damaged from del we turn tanks around in a week to get them
back to the customer. All I know is that we are on time for our quoted del
of this tank as was told to the store when order was placed. I am sorry you
have waited this long for your tank, but I do not now why it has taken 8
weeks from the time you say you ordered it.

In my experience Lee Mar is true to their word. The 220 I was expecting this week was given a 2 week time quote due to a measurement issue with the first tank, but they just missed the 2 week deadline. I will get the tank next thursday along with my 10 remodel tanks.

SWSaltwater

Also I ordered a new tank for myself. 72x24x31 with starfire glass. That is also a 3 week timeframe for delivery.

fishaholic911

I know I am being jacked around but I do not think it is fair to say it is my lfs as the only one I have caught in a lie so far is Lee Mar.I am not saying my lfs is not at fault but they have not proved to be yet. The (Lee Mar) sump I ordered though them came in a week because it was a stock item. Also they offered me a 200.00 credit for all the trouble.

I'll have my fingers crossed for ya.

I haven't seen the foam baffles like you have in your sump. Does that make a better bubble trap than a glass baffle?

fishaholic911
06/01/2006, 07:29 PM
I do not think it will work any better but what I like about it is the fact that you can run your sump level lower without running the sump pump dry. Also if the glass bows it will not break the seal as it is not 1 fixed piece.

I am so looking forward to having my dining room back. Although I am sure that after the tank is all set up, Gary will get one to use as a frag tank (A very small one hopefully). There should be enough room in the storage room for a frag tank.. LOL

What size are those overflows? Is the tank drilled for closed loop?

fishaholic911
06/03/2006, 08:01 AM
The overflows are 6 by 10 with 1 inch bulkheads and no closed loop.

fishaholic911
06/03/2006, 08:10 AM
The center divider on this tank is only 15 inches. The 240 I had was 24 inches I believe. This will make life a lot easyer when it comes to diving in to this baby.

Exhaust the hood hans to the ceiling, a short 6"duct and 90. would save a lot of heat and humidity into the room

fishaholic911
06/03/2006, 09:07 AM
This is a great Idea John but I think you will find with AC it gets really dry and it will be nice to put back some moisture back it to the air. Your tank looks awesome!

BTW, I just saw the tank of Scott and Erin in Mesa yesterday, and I was very impressed. They used to black foam on the walls and some of the interior connecting pieces and only about 150 pounds (my guess) of LR. And the tank looks full of LR. Glad you kept all your LR?
