cleaning algae question?

would it be okay to clean a green star polyp with a tooth brush outside the water for a little bit. if that is bad out of the water would it be okay to scrub it clean then do a water change to get some green hair and bubble algea? thank you, william

I would not scrub it outside of water as the bristles might damage the polyp. I would use a turkey baster and blow water at it.

Turn some snails loose on the problem. They clean much more delicately. SO do the littlest hermits.
