Which salt woud you guys recommend me to start out with? I plan to buy my salt tomorrow. Do you get your salt off the net or from your lfs? Thanks again.

There are many to choose from, so it depends on what your plans are. For my fish only set up I am using Instant Ocean, but for my reefs I am using Kent Sea Salt. I know it may sound crazy to buy 2 different types, but so far it is working for me.

I have used IO for years. Works well for me and it is consistent.

yea theres so many diffrent kinds i just dont know which to use, and ive heard that you should change salt either so i want to start with the right one. I will be starting as a FOWLR and might get into some reef.

do you guys order online or is it better to just get it from the lfs?

Depending on the price. I got my first bucket from drfostersmith, and then the second time I just went to my lfs. Reasoning, I needed the salt quicker.

I havent used IO in some time, but for the price its well worth it to start with.

So far bigals is looking pretty good, but i will check out the lfs tomorrow and see what there prices are. Im willing to bet alot higher though.

The majority will say Instant Ocean but there are alot of good salt around and the main thing is to use reverse osmosis/deionized water.

I see everyone seems to like IO.. and the reason I'm curious about it that my LFS didnt like IO... recommended SeaChem. They were saying that it was better and had lower phosphates and such. Were they throwin me a line or what?

You might want to listen to this podcast http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150 about various salts. If you don't have an iPod or MP3 player you can download iTunes and listen from your computer. This article http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/3/aafeature is pretty good too.
