A non pressure rated pump works fine. I had that conversation with Jeff a few weeks ago. I run a GenX PCX100 on my VS3-48 and it works great.

Jeff explained that the Mazzie will only allow 1Kgph anyway becuase of the opening of the venturi. So there is no reason to have the higher electric cost of a pressure rated pump.

I Have used lifereef equipment since the mid 90's and never had 1 single problem with any of it. I am in the middle of buiding my 210 setup and I did consider running a different skimmer. Well long story short I ended up going with my VS3-48 and love it.

I like the Vs3's alot. I have had 2 Vs2-24's and they always worked great. I ran a Genx pcx 40 on my 24. I started out with a MDQ2 (650gph) and it worked all right but with I jumped up to the pcx-40 it was night and day differance. For a 90 either one of those skimmers will work. I personally like to over skim my tanks so if room allows the vs3-30 with a pcx 40 would more than do the job.

I just set up my 92 courner tank, and I have the lifereef compact berlin sump with a lifereef skimmer and float swith. Im still curing my live rock but so far the skimmer works great.I eventually would like to get a lifereef calcium reactor.
