Hey folks:

I've had this RBTA for almost a year, thankfully, it has stayed where it was and hasn't done a walkabout in the tank. Yesterday, at noon, it had streached out almost 12" to within about 4" of the waterline and the oral disk looked gathered up. Around 5 pm, I walked by the tank and it had deflated some and there were white wisps of smoke floating in the tank. Lo and behold, they were coming out of the RBTA. Here is a couple of shots that I got. Hope you find them of interest.

not to hijack, but maybe this is a spring thing... i had astrea doing the same thing a couple days ago... i knew what it was but didnt find it important enough to document... but now that other people are reporting similar events in a short timeframe maybe its a spring/full moon or whatever type of thing.... interesting eh?

IME, most anemones normally do this in spring and fall. However, they can also do it year round and many more times than just once or twice.

Three of the four RBTA's I have started "smoking" today so maybe it is a spring thing... I'll try and get some video.

This same thing just happened to me. I walk by my tank and it's all cloudy. I then see my anemone spewing out white stuff. I got a nice video clip of it though.

Should I be at all concerned about the release of this into my tank? Should I be performing massive water changes at this point?

Kwel huh Ken:

I put in a bunch of carbon and did a water change the next day. I don't know if it made a difference one way or the other but I thought it wise.
