Plumbing for poly tanks…

I have two 50 gallon poly tanks and want to have them in a tower type system. With one on top of the other kind of like a shelf system. How would you plumb them to go to the sump, with out worrying about them overfilling? Also how would you do the return?

My prop system is similiar. I have the pump going to the top tank. The drain from the top tank going into the middle tank and the drain from the middle tank going to the sump.

I use the top tank as a refugium.

I chose to do it this way to maximize the flow out of the single pump. Works great for me.
