Okay well I want to set up a system that can control my fans and heaters at the same time to have a very stable tank temperature, this is what I came up with.

^^^ manual for those who are interested

So basicly its a controller that has 8 channels with probes in each one, you can program each channel with different on/off temperatures, so with a relay you can control the heaters and directly from the controller you can plug 12VDC fans up to 1000mA.

Heres is a circuit diagram of what I plan on doing with this controller-

http://reefcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=984380

So I need,

- Relay (10 amp DPDT)
- 2 Switches
- 2 Outlets
- 12V Power Supply

I want the relay to have TWO sets of contacts, each of which you can wire as Normally Open, or Normally closed.

I want to wire the outlet for the heaters as normally closed, and the outlet for my AC fans as normally open

When the controller senses that the temperature hits 82 degrees (my chosen setpoint) The contoller sends power to the relay. This causes the relay to open the NC circuit (killing power to the heaters) and at the same time closes the NO circuit (Turning on the fans).

This arrangment will cause the fans and heaters to cycle on and off ALOT but it should keep the tank temperature very stable.

Now this is were you guys come in, I found all this info on these boards (thanks to Jon_Hewett_85) and I have an understanding of how this will work but I basicly have no electrical skills what so ever or any experience.

How do I go about wiring this stuff up? Ive never even held a relay.

I need to wire the relay to this controller (how do I do this)
I need to 1 switch as NC to the relay (how do I do this)
I need to wire 1 outlet as NO to the relay (how do I do this)
I need to wire a switch to an outlet x2 (how do I do this)
And last I need to wire 2 Fans to the controller (how do I do this)

Would it be better if I were to buy everything and take pictures so you guys could help me wire it up?
