I read the description of this item on your webpage, but I am confused in exactly how it works. The expansion socket has two sockets. When added to the original 8 sockets do you get a total of 10 sockets that you can control or do you only get 9? I'm not clear on how this connects to main unit?
Thanks

You mentioned that you read this already, however it's worth posting here with an explanation...
"The expansion socket can supply up to 15A (10A inductive) to one or more devices. Power is supplied to the Expansion Socket through a 15A cord (6’) that plugs into a wall outlet. Control of the Expansion Socket is handled by the ReefKeeper via a two prong control line (3’) that is plugged into one of the ReefKeeper channels."
As it mentions it plugs into one of the channels on the ReefKeeper. So the Expansion Socket now acts as that channel. So that means you don't gain extra channels you gain the ability to control more power. That's good for two reasons. You can now control a high current device or, you can control more then 15amps (RK limit) worth of components.
Hope that helps.

Yes, that clears it up. The part that was confusing me was where it says you can control "one or more devices". In one of my previous posts you had directed me toward this component because you said you should not plug powerstrips into the Reefkeeper. If this only has one usable socket and you shouldn't use a powerstrip then controlling more than one device was confusing.

Just one more thing...
There are the two outlets on the Expansion Socket; both are controlled by the same channel. That gives you the multiple device option.

Expansion sockets are the greatest ideas ever. If they didn't make them, I wouldn't be able to run a controller on my tank.. The ability to put 2x250w of MH (magnetic ballast pull more like 300w) on a different circuit is pure genious.

Ok. Now I see what you are talking about. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
