Securing Skimmer in Sump

I would like to secure the skimmer in my sump so that it does not move around when I remove the collection cup, I have the 150-F2001. I have a glass 30gal sump. If I silicone the base of the skimmer to the sump will it hold? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Wombat,
Use a little silicone lube ( NOT sealant) on the o ring and bayonet fitting, and you should not have an issue with removing the collection cup. That should take care of the issue.

only use a little from the silicone lube, otherwise it will stop skimming for days.

when i had this skimmer, i first removed the cover from the collectioncup, so that i could get a halfgrip inside the cup with one hand and with the other hand i hold it at the nippel where the pump goes inside. no problem
