I just acclimated a blue linkia star yesterday and today when I woke up and looked at the tank the star had one of it's "legs" off the rock with the bottom side of the leg just facing off to the side doing nothing. Is he dead? or do they just do that sometimes?

They're hard to keep. I don't know if he's dead or not, but I've never seen one survive too long in captivity. Good luck.

How long did you acclimate the Linckia ?
How long did the LFS have the star?
Were your water parameters similar to the water parameters of where the star was purchased?

IME a Linckia that loses a leg this quickly is a goner, but it will take a few weeks for the body parts to die.
