hey, as title indicates, i am looking for a good replacement pump for my mag 7 return... i like the mag 7 and its reliablity, but i really would like something that is a little quieter. the pump is in sump, so i need something that would be able to be in sump....so what is a good submersible pump that is very quiet and has about 400-500 gph of flow? thanks...

I do have a mag 9.5 and I am really happy with it. No noise of course its in the water.
My Mags are also completely silent...the ones in the sump and the one that is plumbed dry. Have you thoroughly cleaned it recently?

Try eheim, they are silent. Mags are not know for being silent.

Agree, also a lot more electricly efficient. The mags are power hogs.

I have been running mags for some time and never noticed any noise. if the noise is coming from the pump sitting on bare glass, try putting a peice of rubber mat under the pump.
