I'm sure most of you know but April the 22nd is Earth Day. The Tulsa Zoo is putting on an Earth Day celebration and planning several different activities. You can read about it here (http://www.tulsazoo.org/general.asp?id=168).

I would like to invite you all, OMAS members or not, to join me out at the zoo! Bring the kids they love the zoo! I will bring a camera and snap a few photos for the newsletter. If you are interested post here and we will set up a time to meet up in the parking lot.

Also here are a few ways you can help (http://www.worldwildlife.org/earthday/) preserve the environment!

I would need to pull a couple loose strings, but I might be able to make it. That would be wonderful! Sonya's about to strangle me to take her to the zoo anyways :lmao:

I will probably be on my bike, but if you want to organize a carpool that would be a great idea Scott!

Let's try this again now folks. And keep to the topic at hand. You all know the saying, if you've got nothing good to say.... :)

Thanks!

I guess I missed something....anyway my kids went to the zoo today and told me about all this stuff I should see. Seems like a good opportunity. Unfortunately I will be driving the SUV that get 10 miles a gallon and watching DVD's.

If it helps any, we might be able to squeeze one person in our car.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to make it on time when everyone else showed up, but regardless I had a blast. The kids passed out in the car in a matter of 5 minutes. Heck, we werent even out of the parking lot yet.

I didn't get to make it either.

Travis, what did you think of the rainforrest's river tank?

That was probably the 10th time I've seen it. The rainforest area is definitely my favorite part of the whole zoo. MY next favorite is probably the Reptile/Bird/Fish area.

An interesting thing to know, the Red Tail Catfish that is in the Rainforest area is actually from an aquarist here in Tulsa. Back when I was getting into the hobby, I was at Tulsa Aquatics and a guy brought it in from his home tank. John pulled a few strings and got the zoo to take it. It has grown a good 6 inches since I saw it about two years ago.
