First of all I have to say hello to everyone, this is my first post and probably my first of many. Whenever I start into a new hobby I hunt around to find a good forum to join and get help and advice, I found a few but this one appears to be by far the best around so I had a quick browse and now I've joined.

Right I'll cut to the chase, I'm not gonna say "How do I set up a marine tank?" Because I'm liable to anger alot of people for asking a question that's probably asked 20 or 30 times a day, I know there's a search button and I'm not affraid to use it ;)

This is mainly a hello and to tell you a bit about me and what I plan to do, if you do wish to point me in directions, advise me, suggest a page I may not know about, that's great. I'm currently reading this (http://reefcentral.com/modules.php?s=&name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=1) thread, seems like a good place to start.

Oh yeah, I forgot the bit about me and so on..... I have a 39 gallon tropical tank, full of mollies, catfish, puffers and a blue lobster (crayfish). I've had it up and running for about a year and a half, I was told when I bought it that eventually I'll want to make the change to marine, and last weekend, that time came!!

I know I have a way to go, I'm patient, I want to get this right, one step at a time and with your help I will hopefully have a heathy and successfully running marine tank.

Thanks all for listening.

Jason.

Cheers, I've nearly finished that thread I mentioned, so I'll make a start on those in a minute, doesn't look like I'll be getting much stuff done at work today! :)

Hi Jason,

I echo the applause regarding your research! I have found the TalkingReef www.TalkingReef.com podcasts really helpful. I often listen in my car and I often feel like I should pull over and take notes. There are podcasts discussing beginning topics like the nitrogen cycle and substrate choices, and others covering advanced topics like corals. If you don't have an iPod or MP3 player you can download a podcast client like iTunes to you computer and listen there.

Ah, I've heard of pod casts but never knew what they were, my headunit is a mp3 player so I can put some on a disc and have a listen. Cheers for that. I'm still trying to work out if it's possible for me to go marine as I don't have much room and having a sump tank isn't really much of an option really.

Yep, give it a try. You can also watch the video podcasts on your computer.

Hoe do you play the video files? they're in .m4v format.
