odysessa skimmer

i bought a brand new skimmer off ebay it's a odysessa skimmer. i was wondering if anyone has or uses this product. if you can tell me if it's any good. i hooked mine up and it seems to make alot of noise. so if you guys could give me info that would be great.

I use one on my 55.
Just give it a week to break in instead of the 'day or 2' in the instrustion.
Collects quite well for the money. Just be careful the 1st time you turn it on and have you hand the adjustment nob so you can crank it down.
It will take and adjustment or 2 to get it collecting how you want.

Sorry Its been a while.
I used a use a floating venturi piece I had instead and came off the venturi part with some exrta hose. Cuts down on the "sucking noise"

ok.. i hooked mine back up.. i came home from work not to long ago.. and seen my tank is filled with micro bubbles. that normal?

thats the breakin i was talking about. lasts about a week maybe less.

Any time you use a cheap skimmer that is going to happen. Get rid of it and get a real skimmer. You will be better off in the long run.

Make sure the skimmer return is not directed at your tank return pump. I had problems with micro bubbles until I rearranged my return.

ok thanks.. how far did you put ur water level.. did you put it to the crease inthe collection cup or.

Like I said the bubbles will go away.
It collects plenty of crud.
Good enough for me.
Cheap and functional are not necessarily reversely proportional

Adjustment is personal prefrence
if the foam line is close to the top thats skimming wet and you have to empty alot.
Lower=skimming dryer is less dilluted by less water but after a while may start to smell.
Give it a few days and let it settle in and then adjust it how you want

I just got rid of mine today for a bak pak.....that thing will go nuts if it doesnt like whats in your water such as a piece of leftover food..your collection cup will fill up in like 15 seconds and start spilling onto your floor....i had mine for a month and a half and woke up to hearing splattering on my floor like 4 times......today i was at the fish store and saw they got a used bakpak in and thought i might get one of those some time...i get home to my tank flooding onto my floor..needless to say i turned right back around and get the bakpac then took a hammer to that old POS..Everytime you leave for a couple of days you will have to unplug it for feer it will flood your house. my new skimmer has pulled out as much in one day than that thing ever did...get your money back and get a good skimmer, youll end up doing it anyways later on trust me

hmm i ordered this skimmer off ebay. it was brand new.. i might end up tossin it.. but i wish i could use something out of it.. for somthing atleast..

I have the Bak Pak one which the only difference is (someone correct if im wrong) the return pipe, mine has an overflow back into the aquarium. i got mine used for 60, id recommend getting one used the only thing that could go wrong on them is the pump which is easily replaced.
