Looking for some snalis that clean the sand up.
I have about 10 astrea in my 12G Nano tank and they keep the alge off the glass and rocks, but the sand is now looking bad..

All I have in there right now is 10 BL/RL Hermits and 10 Asorted astra snails.

Tough with such a small tank. Nassarius are good, but with such a small tank they must be fed too. But they do stir-up the gravel.

They might. A cerith snail might help also.

Ok so I only need 1 of them??
and what would I feed it?

Do I have too many crabs and snails for that tank?

Probably that's too many for the long haul. I'd expect some starvation. That's why I was suggesting only one cerith. I'm not sure that it'll eat anything the hermits won't, but it might be worth a shot.

So what do you toss in there to feed them??
Nori?

Nori might work. Some extra fish food will help the hermit crabs.

Ilyanassa obsoleta is not a good choice for the aquarium. Other species would be better. Besides, Nassarius whelks are strictly carnivorous and will not touch detritus. Ceriths are the best snails for detritus control, with Strombids being second. The downside to Strombids is that they need a very large surface area to support their dietary needs. Both of these types of snails will also eat algae.
