I am going to upgrade my lights. I bought my tank used and it came with a 30" dual tube fluorescent striplight and 18 w of PC lights. I am considering this light http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=243 I know that there are some limits in that you can not control the bulbs individually. On the other hand the price is hard to beat. I want to be able to keep a BTA and some softies. Have you used Jebo lights? The one person I know with one says the fans are a little loud but for the price he would buy it again.

If you get a year out of the unit you are lucky. I have one and the fans went out in the first month. The plastic splash sheld doesn't even stay on the light. GOOD LUCK!

I had a 24" one for a fwe months with no problems. Now Have the MH version of theirs, pretty happy with it so far. Heck $200 for a MH/PC/moonlight combo. Cant be beat. Yea I might need new bulbs in a few months. But I think its nicely built.

I looked at those units and decided they were too poorly built to consider. I've had three lighting units die on me, so I just spring for better quality merchandise now.

I wouldn't suggest a BTA in a 54g tank with PC lighting. I'd go for metal halide, although some individual animals might be fine with PC. Actually, I did go with metal halide for my BTA. :)

i bought the jebo 48" pc, and my only complaint is that their stock bulbs are awful. just replace them with some higher end bulbs and your still in way under the cost of the other fixtures. i've had mine for over 2 years now too.
