I picked up a vermiculate (singapore) angel a couple weeks ago. absolutely no interest in corals, clams, or sponges so far.... peaceful and pretty fish as well..... eating frozen and flake foods no problem.
Was in store for 5 weeks- so hopefully this one will make the long haul.

I'm continually convinced that many of the "large" angels are reef safe. They just need enough room. Heard and seen many problems with the dwarf species (though I had both an eibli and a coral beauty together in my first tank years ago and had no issues with the corals).

Also picked up a yellow clown goby for my 20 g tank. very cute little fish.

Many are fine- I'm not saying they aren't, but quite a few in a non species specifc way like to taste. Heck my black sail fin blennie would take tastes at corals. Never enough that he thought they were a good choice of food though.

I have a yellow tang that will mouth the polyps of the nepthia...bump the toadstool and he loves to nip the featherduster...but doesn't do any damage..I think he just likes to see it close quickly..

I ran into a guy at the store the other day who claimed that he's been keeping queen angels in reefs for years. He said if you get them young and fed them well they don't develop a "taste" for corals.

Food for a thougt...

That I do believe. A friend of mine has an emperator that he got as a juve as well as a majestic in the same tank- they don't touch anything at all- even clams. Will it work every time? It to me is still a risk- but skewed in a direction where it working out OK might be more favorable.

My new angel is already eating from my hand. The rabbitfish will do it as well, but I still worry he will do an instant freak one time and get me with his spines. :O
