would this work to hold about 50 lbs of cured live rock that is going into a tank that won't be ready for a week?

Also, would I run anything besides a powerhead and a heater? Lights? Skimmer?

And finally, would this be plain RO/DI water, or mixed saltwater that I store the rock in?

Thanks!

Should work fine. Definitely SALT water...if it is cured, the life on the rock is going to need that to stay alive. Lights aren't really necessary unless there's lots of coralline that you want to try to preserve. For a week, though, it shouldn't matter at all.

If the rock isn't cured you might need a skimmer but otherwise you should be clear for takeoff with a powerhead or two and a heater if you have a spare around the house.

If it is uncured, definitely the skimmer. I'm not positive but I think water changes are also recommended for the curing process...?

thanks for the input. the rock is cured already, by the way.

how long can that setup be used for storage?

as long as you want if there is good water movement and a heater and if doing it for a longer period of time i would do waterchanges

cool,

same flow as equal size tank? or just flow enough to keep it oxygenated?

Just flow enough to keep the water from being stagnant. A small powerhead is fine.

That is what I used. One suggestion though. Run a band of Duct-Tape around the middle (or something else). That will the sides from bowing out if you fill it more than half full with water.

Yeah, and if you use a heater, don't let it rest directly on the plastic. The heat will affect the plastic...not necessarily melt it, but will turn a small place where it rests white and brittle.
