I'd give it up as a "sponge", although that can be a very broad classification. Bottom line, it's harmless and I hope you can keep it long term, as most "sponges" need a regular diet that is very hard to keep or provide in a closed system.

It looks more like an intricate foraminiferan to me. They come in many shapes and colors. Yours just seems to have more than the usual amount of "branching." If it is a foram, it won't get much bigger. If it's a sponge, it could continue to grow.
