View Full Version : The purpose of a 2" Inlet for the new Sequence DART pump

Why does the Sequence DART have a 2" inlet? The ones bigger than it have a 1.5" inlet. Just curious what improvement it provides? I'm guessing just helps the low pressure motor get a greater volume of water with the least restriction?

your guess is right.

Yep. He is correct. BTW you can use 1.5" to get to the pump and then go 2" at the pump. MDM Sequence had posted this into before they removed the MDM Sequence forum on RC. You will reduce the flow a bit by doing this but it will not hurt the pump.

They even supply the reducing adaptor with the purchase.

I have two 1" inlets drilled on my tank for a closed loop, should I increase these to two 1.5" holes?

btw Aquaduck, that is a really nice Regal angel you have in your avatar!

I would say that 2 x 1.25" inlets would be minimum. I have 2 x 1.5" inlets that got to a 2" on my Dart setup.

It depends if you are talking about "inlets" that supply water to the pump...or "inlets" that the pump puts water into the tank.

2 x 1" inlets (merged together) - not enough size to feed the pump

2 x 1" inlets to the tank (output from the pump) - sounds good.

it's 2x1" inlets to the pump, and a OM super squirt return.

I was going to put a 1.5" to 1" reducer right after the bulkhead, since I already had it predrilled and got bulkheads for them (I was going with a different. Should I just drill them to 1.5", or better yet, just drill it to 2"?
