Hey all, just got my new protein skimmer in yesterday! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model and possibly some setup pictures or hints/tricks to get it setup just right? I have mine setup - not producing any skim yet, but I guess I'll have to wait for the break in period :/
Here's some pics of how it's currently setup, please let me know if you see something that should be tweaked! These are after about 15 hours and only tweaking the riser pipe. Thanks a lot,

Its tough to tell how deep the skimmer is sitting. My ER requires around 6 - 7 inches to work properly. However, its an older model and the newer ones might be different.

I'd not worry too much. Looks like you have a lot of tiny bubbles there. No doubt there's a lot of smelly goo in your future.

It's sitting at around 7 to 7 1/2 inches right now. It keeps peaking to the top of the riser tube but hasn't quite made it into the cup yet. Thanks for the positive reinforcement :)

That setup is just right, just make sure you keep the water level constant and give two to three days and that skimmer will pull out some nice gunk. I have two euroreef's and love them.

I agree. I have the RS-100 model. It sits in 7 inches of water which is always the same height. I have a very light bio load, 2 clowns and a few hermits and snails and I still get some good stuff out of the tank.

It took about 2 or 3 days to get cooking and now I get virtually no micro bubbles.

Pat

Thanks for the help everyone. Here's a pic of the skimmer this morning after about 40 hours. It's producing skim now, maybe too wet?

Yea pretty wet, I would dial it back just a bit and try to get some darker stinkier stuff.

My sump is 10" deep, should my new RS-100 work well in it? I didn't know if there was some kind of adjustment valve or something of that nature.
