Need a sump to clean detritus. Have plenty of particles floating in tank and at bottom of current sump. Anyone have any ideas that incorporate micron pads? Any commercial designs available?

Need unit 36*16*16.

Would prefer water draining in one side, rising to top going over micron pad (eliminates detritus and bubbles), goes into large skimmer area. Goes over baffles to eliminate micro bubbles, then to return area.

just have your return empty into a filter sock, easiest method to keep the sump spotless

Here is what I use. Carbon 24/7 in the bottom tray of the trickle portion of my Marineland Tidepool I. I use 50 micron filter pads with a coarse filter pad on top of that (to trap larger debris). In the pictures below, you will see how much crap the 50 micron pads take out of my tank. Mind you, the pad looks like this after only 2 days of operation. Consequently, I am forced to change the filter pads up to 3 times weekly, which is a small price to pay considering my crystal clear water. You can get the pads here -->50 Micron Filter Pads (http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/shop/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=4521).

Good luck and I hope this helps.

My current sump does not have any room to allow a filter sock. It is a converted ecosystem with no way to get into area water returns to.

skimmer before any filtersocks, you can put a nice detritus eating snail/cowrie in your sump, add filter media compartment after skimmer on its output with filterfloss or micron pad and carbon.
NOte the filter floss or pad will have to be changed/cleaned regularly.

what I do is just syphon the detritus out of my sump when I do a water change
