Hi I am setting up a smaller tank and am wondering what lights would be best for the setup. Here is what I have - 72 gallon bow front, 2-175 watt MH, 1- 250 watt MH, 2-36 watt PC's and the flourescnets that came with the tank. I think the 2-175's and the PC's for actinincs/color? Also the bulbs are kind of old, do MH's need to be replaced like flourescents? Looking at keeping mostly soft corals and maybe later some SPS. Thanks

The replacement age for MH bulbs varies depending on the manufacturer, but they probably will last at least a year or a year and a half. Two 175 W bulbs are probably okay lighting for the tank, especially if you have a good reflector, but it does depend on the bulb-ballast combination. This site has a lot of good data:
