hi, i was thinking of getting 3 or 4 of these and wondered if i cant get one male and 2-3 females , will a female change sex if i got 4 and no male?

If you just got all females, eventually one will become the male. That is how it is supposed to happen.

I bought three females. The middle one in size became a male w/in two weeks.

good question. I have this fish on my list for a future tank. I had anthias before and find out that 2 of them by them self in the tank will fight for dominacy and becoming the male. they were Tricolor anthias.
so it will be better to keep them and small groups, like 3-4. I rather just have 3 the tank will be only a 100g or maybe 120g so wont have the space to keep more.

most anthias like big groups but i read that bartlett are ok in 3 or 4. and they are quite small and hardy
