Just bought a blue tuxedo urchin. Drip aclimated it for over an hour. But it hasnt moved since i put it in the tank. How can i tell if it is still alive?

If it's dead, it won't be attached to anything, and will start to smell rotten. How long have you had it? Did you measure the SG after the drip?

Yea i made sure the sg matched. It isnt sticking to anything now it is just sitting in the sand. The color looks good on it. These things are soo hard to find and i finally get one and its prob. dead.

Sigh, that doesn't sound good to me. They are pretty animals, IMO. Mine was lost during a tank move, sigh.

If it is dead what should i look for when buying a new one? How can i tell it is healthy? Im sure this one was like this in the store I only bought it 5 hours ago?

Well, I don't know of any good way to judge health, but I'd look for one that was reasonably active and feeding. If it's only been in your tank five hours, I'd give it more time before giving up.

Yes give it more time. If the color is good it may still be alive. Hopefully. Good Luck
