Clean up crew arrived today....tested water with new salifert tests:
Salinity 1.023
Ph: 8.2
phosphates 10
nitrates
temp 79
Calcium 340
alk 8
We're doing a water change, added phosban to sump. They we're over feeding...cut back. And have added clean up crew.
Is there anything else i should do? How long before it drops?
Thanks

It might take a while, but dont panic. You are on the right path with what you've done so far. Test your topoff and new salt water to make sure niether of those is adding to it. If there ok, then continue what your doing and keep up with regular water changes...it should come down eventually.
What test kit are you using?

That article discusses the issue fairly thoroughly. The Phosban and feeding reduction should help. A series of 20% water changes will also remove a lot of phosphate.

Salifert test kits. They are brand new. So I'm sure they are good.
Thanks.

Do you mean 1.0? My salifert kit only goes to 1.2 or something like that. Either way, I used salifert's "phosphate killer" and it dropped my phosphates from 1.0 to .05 in about 4 days.
