Hi everybody,
I purchased a Typhoon 3 and I was hoping that someone would like to explain to me how to hook this up to my faucett. I ordered a faucett adaptor along with this RO unit, but I dont see anything in the instruction manual for making this type of connection. I would much prefer permanently installing this under the kitchen sink, but I'm neither good at plumibing and I am renting my apartment. A diagram would really be helpful.
Thanks!
Gary

i dont have a diagrahm. thier should be three hoses. one for the discharge(hook to the drain). one for output and the other is for sink adapter. the output hose should have the gate valve on it.

I saw that faucet adapter and decided to just go with the garden hose adapter. Then I bought the faucet to garden hose adapter at HD and hooked it up that way. Sorry I can't help you more.

From the looks of the pic on the airwaterice.com web site it looks like a simple screw on connection. You will proboby needs to make the connection at a kitchen style faucet or a faucet that has a screw on strainer. You should just need to unscrew the strainer and screw on the adapter. The instructions that came with the unit go in to pemanant installations for under cabinets/counter. I would do it that way and just install a shut off valve so when you move out you can simply disconnect the unit and close the shut off. Odds are the apt. folks wont notice the remaining connetction. If you want to do it the right way when you move its just a matter of replaceing $10 worth of PVC parts.

Does anyone out there have their Typhoon 3 hooked up to their kitchen faucett with a faucett adaptor. Just need some guidance on how to do this. I want to make RO/DI water. Thanks.

It looks like a "standard" faucet output adapter. Most faucets should have an output that unscrews with a rubber washer inside. Unscrew that and it looks like the pictured faucet adapter should screw right in; it looks like you attach the RO/DI input hose to the nipple that goes through the adapter. Some faucets will have a different thread size, so that one may not work for that particular faucet. I figured I'd have that problem as my faucets are unique, so I got a faucet to garden hose adapter at HD and used the airwaterice garden hose adapter.

I have a Typhoon III and ordered the faucet adapter with it initially, since I too am in an apartment. I actually ended up not using it. Basically, the adapter screws onto the bottom of the faucet, just like any other adapter would. There is a nipple on the side that you hook your input line to. On the opposite side of the nipple is the valve that controls the flow of water to the nipple--pull the valve to start the flow of water to the unit. Unfortunately, this setup would basically mean that you would have the unit sitting somewhere near the sink and having a line running off of the sink all the time--my wife didn't like that option. If you have Washer/Dryer hookups in your apartment, you can tee (or Y) off the cold water line, one branch going to the washer, the other to the RO/DI input line. Then you can have a quasi-permanent mount in your apartment that is easy to use. Since the Typhoon III has an automatic shutoff valve, when you close the valve on the pure water line, it will stop the flow of water into the unit, meaning you won't waste any more water. Open the valve, and the unit starts back up again right away! That's my recommendation, but the sink option will work if you don't have W/D hookups. Hope that helps!

Thanks to everyone for their advice. Dr_rick, I thought that the faucett adapter would be a temporary connection and that I wouldnt have to have a line running off of the sink all the time. I would think that I would only have this hooked up to the kitchen faucett when I needed to make water. I'm afraid this is the only option I have at this time.

i own the typhoon III and all i do is when i want to make water is hook it up and and run the waste water down the drain and when im done i unhook it and store it away works like a champ everytime.... all you do is use a ball valve to close off the ro feed and then it will come out the pure water line and give u a tds of 0 thats what i do..

Could someone who has their Typhoon 3 hooked up via a faucett adaptor share some pics of their setup with me. Thanks.

If you like, I could post some pics of my faucet adapter that I got from HD and the garden hose adapter setup that I use, but I doubt that will help you any. I think "dr_rick" explained the airwaterice adapter pretty well.

Thanks eee. Thanks to all. I am happy to report that I am producing RO/DI water with a TDS of 0.

Alright! Just be sure and also check your incoming TDS and RO only TDS to make sure that everything is functioning properly.
