Longevity of MH ballasts

Hey, what are the lifespan of the MH ballasts you make? Assuming average reef photoperiod.

No way to really measure this. Keep ballast in a well ventillated area and mount on a heat sink and there is no reason it will not last 10 years or more.

Heat kills electronics so what I recommend is heat sinking all ballasts.
For an aquarium application, running lamps 10 hours per day and only one on / off cycle per day, 10 - 20 years is very achievable.
