Ok, I am a newbie here and researching pumps for circulation and came across a tunze pump.

How can this thing possibly run at 1600 gph and only use 11 w of power? Do they actually work well?

The one I was looking at is the 6060 and is referenced here:

Thanks

They are excellent, efficient pumps. I have 2-6000 streams on a multi control.

They are fine powerheads, but they are not pumps. That is why the use less power. They are not pressure rated and in no way can be used as a return pump. However, they are pretty much the best powerheads on the market that you can buy.

Thanks.

So with 1600 gph would it be a litteral overkill torrent in my 90 gal?

No not at all, it will be great in the 90g of yours. A lot of people with 90g's use them all the time. Great pump and well worth the money!

I use a 6000 on my 90. I think it's one of the best pieces of equipment I've bought for my tank.

I have two 6100s for my 100. I'm going to need to tone them down a bit, however.
