I am going to cut the teeth for my overflow sometime today or tomorrow.
What size works best? I need the tooth height and width and the gap (cut) between the tooth's size.
Thanks in advance.

3/4 of an inch on center for each divider space and 1.5 inches in depth is what I did and what I have seen done numerous times.

I think I used a 3/8" router bit and made them 1" deep on 3/4" centers.

If you are getting noise like that you probably need to construct a standpipe to quiet it down. Do a search on Stockman or Durso Standpipes. They are simple to construct and work like a champ.

The sucking noise is most likely caused by the drain. Do a search for "durso standpipe" if you do not already have one.

I assume that you are cutting it in acrylic, correct?

I am cutting it in acrillic, I have ample tools to do it and am just trying to figure out the "tooth" size and the gap between. As I don't have anyone nearby to measure from and my LFS just sold his last ALL-GLASS tank I am gonna wing it.
Thank you all for you ideas I will weight them all up and draw some out to see what looks good. I will just tack glue the acrillic in at first so the good thing is if I screw it up I can always rip it out and start over.
Still at freashwater trial stage hoping to start salt in a week.
Cheers

There are some pretty good pictures here that you can use as a reference.
